This is a most special distinction: The Legion d'Honneur is a national French distinction, which Napoleon Bonaparte introduced in 1802. I received this honour on the 28th of November 1949. There is a little box that goes with it, and the lid of the box also describes the award. The address included is Rue de Solferino 7 in the seventh arrondissement in Paris. The museum of National Orders from the Legion of Honour is actually located there.
