Great Essays
AMI is proud to present the first in a new series of Great Essays, each designed to illuminate one of Maria Montessori’s major ideas on human development. The series brings together legacy Montessori practitioners and leading scholars to introduce key concepts in a way that is both accessible and grounded in contemporary research.
We begin with an essay on the theme of peace—a cornerstone of Montessori’s vision and a topic that continues to resonate deeply today. Each essay in the series places its subject in historical context, connects it with current insights from education and psychology, and offers notes, bibliographies, and recommendations for further exploration.
We are delighted to share this first contribution and look forward to offering many more. For questions or suggestions, readers are warmly invited to contact the AMI Legacy Team at archives@montessori-ami.org.
